A mainstay in the life of many a student dancer, the European Tournament for Dancing Students is a semi-annual social Latin/Ballroom tournament. These days the tournament regularly serves the dancing (competition and social party), food and sleeping needs of 500 to 700 student dancers. Do you want to experience this? Then contact the teamcaptain through teamcaptain(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)msdvletsdance.nl.
As far as the level of dancing is concerned. If you’ve followed about 20 Latin/Ballroom lessons you’ll be able to compete in the lowest of 4 classes, the Amateurs class. With more experience you’ll be able to place yourself for the higher classes such as Professionals, Masters and Champions. In these you’ll be expected to dance with more technique and dance additional dances such as Samba, Viennese Waltz, Slowfox and Paso Doble. When you are nearing competition level you’ll register in the open class, where dedicated competition dancers battle it out for first place.
You can find a lot of other information on the website, (http://etds.eu/), or just post your question in our Facebook group.
Registration for this social Latin/Ballroom tournament for students has opened, and Let’s Dance! already has 10 confirmed participants.
As it’s open to all levels, from a finished level 1 course to students participating in the amateur competition track, so give the pictures of the last student tournament a good look to get an impression, and then try it out for yourself. With the ETDS barely behind us we can already look forward to the next tournament(s). While information surrounding the Whitsun ETDS in Kiel is still scarce (beyond the date and theme you can see in the calendar), the NTDS is going forward nicely, providing the following information.
During the weekend from the 7th to the 9th of March, at the end of your weeks worth of Carnival vacation, the ‘Atlantis: the Sunken City’ themed Latin/Ballroom themed student competition will be held.
This social tournament takes place in Wijchen, near Nijmegen, and is scarcely 1½ hours drive/ 2½ hours train away.
Participation fee is expected to be around €45,-, and registration will open at the 11th of December, just after we finish our first course. You’ll even be able to get in another 4 lessons before the tournament.
Further information will follow, but keep this weekend reserved for one of the more memorable events in your student life!
